Can You Do Me A Favor?

Do you want a person's hand OR God's hand on your life?

When you think of the word favor what comes to mind? It means different things to different people but I have learned over time that the word favor means to give special regard to; to treat with goodwill; to show exceptional kindness to someone. Sometimes, it means to show extra kindness in comparison to the treatment of others; that is, preferential treatment.  When I read what the word really meant I saw that kindness stood out to me. Kindness is something that is lost today people aren’t as kind as they should be and it confuses me because the same people who are rude and mean. Are the same people who are in the church and are asking God for his favor? Now a child could tell you that doesn’t make much sense how are you asking for something that you aren’t even doing yourself.

Psalm 90; 17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!

The favor of God is something we don’t have to work for but it is something that we have to reach out and try to get. And one way to get God’s favor is to do the things that are pleasing to him. Many times we try to do things are way then ask God to show us favor so we can get something that we want! Not something that God wants for our life but we make it about us and then try and figure out why God isn’t with us. Put the things of God first and then see how God will give you favor and open doors that no man can close.

Why Am I Here..

What is purpose? an object to be reached; a target; an aim; a goal; a result that is desired; an intention.  We all have a purpose in life as you can see but my question is why don’t some people ever reach there purpose? The reason why is because God has a purpose for us and a will for our life but we must be willing to seek after him and find it. We get the purpose part right but miss the seek part! We understand what purpose means but what does seeking God mean or better yet how do we seek him?

Many plans are in a man's mind, but it is the Lord's purpose for him that will stand. Proverbs 19: 21

Read the Bible- One sure way to build your faith and help you seek God is to read the Bible regularly. There are many promises in the Bible about seeking God. Deuteronomy 4:29 says, "From there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for Him with all your heart and soul, you will find Him." You should claim this promise for yourself and begin your search with daily Bible readings.

Prayer- Carve out some prayer time in your schedule. Prayer is simply talking to God. Some different types of prayer are prayers of repentance and humility; thankful prayers; and words of worship.

After we seek God then he will show us our purpose. Why wouldn’t you want to know the reason your alive? The reason why God created you? Seek him today and ask him to show you your way and sit back and watch what he does.

What Do You See?

Vision is being able to see where you’re going, to see what’s up the road ahead, in both literal and figurative senses. With that being said where are you going? I ask the question because the year is almost over and I think and also wonder how many people have thought about their future and the things they want to accomplish in their life. There are many people that have a vision but no drive or passion to go after anything. God gives us visions and allows us to see things but unless we get up and make a move toward them guess what… They mean nothing! In the bible God spoke to many through visions and if you look at today he’s doing the same thing so if he’s doing that today why aren’t more things being done to advance his kingdom? Why are there so many people that are unchurched since we are making a difference right? I feel like more people need to step up to the plate I’m not saying you have to be a pastor but I am saying walk in your calling and fulfill your purpose. If we all played our part things would be a lot smoother.

And not only must you see yourself walking in your purpose you have to get up and go after the things you love the things you want to do in life. I feel bad when I see people with so many gifts so many talents let those things go to waste. Don’t let that be you today you have a choice that you can make so get up and make a difference what are you waiting on? Hey put it this way how do you want to be remembered as someone who didn’t do much for others or someone who made a lasting difference you think about it…

I Love You

The word Love is used without thought today, It has lost it's value The word love and is now said because it sounds good. I heard someone say “love is the willingness to sacrifice parts of you to be part of someone else” If that’s love what are you willing to sacrifice in your life to shoe you love Jesus? Jesus came into the world willing to sacrifice his life for people he didn’t even know. That’s real love! We have all heard the words” actions speak louder then words.” What are your actions saying?


1Corinthians 13:4-7 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.


The things we do are the things that are inside of us. I say that because if it’s not in you then it won’t come out of you. Love is more than words, it isan action. God shows us so much love and compassion daily and we still at times boast, brag, talk rudely and display arrogance. That’s not who God called us to be and today we have missed what true love is. We don’t look at love biblically but we look at love as what can someone do for us. Today I challenge anyone who is reading this to think about your actions and motives and why you do the things you do are you doing them in love or are you doing them because it’s a habit.

Who Do You Trust?

The word trust is a word that many people have a hard time with. And it was something I had a hard time with at a point in my life. Why do we stress when we hear the word or dislike the word trust?? It’s because we have either had a bad experience or we have been lied to by someone we have put our hope in. I think it’s nothing wrong with trusting but I do think it’s something wrong when we put our trust in the wrong thing. The number one thing we should put our trust in is Jesus, I’m guessing you knew I was going to say that but since you knew I was going to say that why do we have such a hard time with it? 

Psalm 37:4 - Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Sounds pretty easy to do right? But we struggle with this concept because in order for us to have trust in someone most of the time we must see it with our eyes or see action. God has given us so many reasons and examples in the bible where he shows us why we should trust him but we still don't believe. All I’m saying is today if you have been putting your faith and trust in a person or a thing stop and think about how many times that thing or person has let you down. And try today to put your trust in God the one who has never went back on a promise he has made.

Do You Know Him?

In life we are going to go through things. Things we don’t understand or like and will many times hurt us. But even when things get to the breaking point and we feel like we can’t take anymore we must remember who is in control… Who? You might be asking well it’s most definitely not US or anybody around us. Because our first reaction many times when something happens is to call a friend or family member and we forget to call on the one who can solve the problem that’s God. But you know you can’t call on someone you don’t know last time I checked.

Jeremiah 24:7  Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the LORD; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart.

God wants to know us but we have to allow him in. Not just allow him to come in when we need him but really have a relationship that’s going to last. When you seek after him he will order your life and make things more clearly to you. That’s why many people are frustrated in their life because they never went to God seeking their purpose in life and they are now empty and hopeless but don’t let that be you!!! You today can get to know Jesus and have a relationship that’s going to last and that’s going to bless your life.

It's Not About Us

Life is the single most important thing we as humans experience on a daily basis. You’re given one chance, one shot, one opportunity and it solely lies in your hands how you handle the cards dealt to you. Life isn’t a movie set there is no cut, take two or do overs, the camera is always running. Every day we are forced to make life choices rather big or small. What do I wear? Are we going to eat breakfast? Am I going to work or school today? And the list goes on. In addition, to the smaller decisions we must make even bigger ones that have the power to impact and change our lives forever. Will I finish high school? Where will I attend college? What type of career will I pursue? Who will I marry? What church will I attend in order to get spiritually fed? Sadly, in the midst of all these decisions we fail to make the most important decision of all which is to accept Jesus as your personal savior. It’s one of the easiest yet best decisions you can ever make yet people go through life never doing it because the enemy has brainwashed many unbelievers into thinking they don’t need God and can somehow flow in their own strength and gifts. 

Matthew 16; 24 tells us "If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."

Many people don't mind going after God but the hard part comes when it says deny himself. The world we live in has us convinced that we don't need God and that the world revolves around us and what we want. God created you with a purpose and agenda but in order to accomplish his plan we must deny ourselves of the things we like and want in order to seek after God's heart. We must be willing to die to our fleshly desires and seek after the things of God.Everyone wants to win and everyone should want to make a difference. Why not start today? Seek after God and allow him to order your steps through the Holy Spirit and watch a change begin to happen in your life as you recognize it's not about me!
